Reader’s Question:

My cousin wants to buy a VW EOS come this fall in Houston, Texas. How will you describe the engine performance of the VW EOS?

Edwin
Houston, TX

One of the major engine features of the EOS is the 2.0 liter turbo engine which originated from the 1.8 liter engine that Volkswagen has been making variations for decades. It pumps out 200 horsepower and 207 ft/lbs of torque and produces more than 30 MPG on the highway. Driving on twisted roads and alleys in Houston, Texas is not really inspiring when you are driving the EOS, but it’s fun. The Continental stock tires cry for help when being pushed hard even on the slightest spirited cornering. I also had frequent radial roasts every time the turbo spools up on first or second gear. The brakes were also somehow spongy, but for most drivers, the EOS handles well enough to have fun.

This I am very sure of, the build quality of the EOS is concrete. Panel gaps are somehow wide in spots but entirely even, the interior components are Audi-spec and the EOS comes with a 4 year/50,000 mile warranty. And for almost $40,000, you’d expect this kind of quality no matter what the brand is. In addition, nothing works better for an EOS than to get it covered with the most affordable car insurance rate. I happen to see the sample quotations on this website and they are interesting.
