Reader’s Question:

One day, my best bud gave me lift all the way to Houston, Texas with his VW R32. I noticed that the drive was simply amazing. So can you tell me what’s inside this fab car from Volkswagen?

The VW R32 runs on a 3.2 liter VR6 which when normally driven does not rip your tires into rubber cords. It is capable of producing 250 horsepower and 236 lb. ft torque which gives that very fine, smooth linear power band which would take you all the way to the red line. One downside of this car is its heavy weight (about 3500 pound curb); it slows the performance as compared to boost induced competitors like the STi and EVO.

But I certainly agree that the R32 was built for high-velocity Autobahn motoring. Even during heavy wind and rain showers, the R32 yields with ease over 100 mph, but still maintains a serene and quiet cabin. And as for twisted roads down Houston, Texas, and when the suspension jerks, the VW creators have masked the added weight amazingly well. Because of the increased heft, the R32 has bigger brakes as compared to the GTI, and have a much firmer feel. Considering all things, the R32 is a car that has more maturity and refinement than the STi or EVO.

And what I am proud about the Volkswagen R32 that I used to drive is that the one I drove has a DSG transmission that functions like manual and automatic. It’s the perfect car for professional drivers and even beginners. I can say its standard characteristics talks about refinement and maturity when it comes to driving experience. Aside from this car, I also saw a perfect insurance match for this type of vehicle. Check out the insurance advertisement on this page.
