Houston TX Volkswagen Biodiesel Fuel Car
Reader’s Question:
The rising prices for fuel here in Houston, Texas keep me from buying the latest VW model. Does VW have car models that are compatible with biodiesel fuel?

Since you asked that question, matter of fact is that VW has an excellent compatibility with biodiesel. Models such as Jetta, Golf, Passat, the New Beetle and the Jetta Wagon have TDI engines that can run on Biodiesel fuel. The excellent performance of the VW TDI engine can run between 42 and 61 mpg while the automatic VW 1.9L TDI can go between 37 and 57 mpg. That is excellent gas mileage in which the TDI earned its best record so far in terms of efficiency and clean emission when using biodiesel. Newer versions of the TDI engines have increased injection pressure. And since biodiesel fuel has high quality, the TDI makes use of it very well.
In the US, as same thing in Houston Texas, however, is not the same. This is because Volkswagen does not encourage yet use of biodiesel in the cars, because substandard fuel or higher-level biodiesel fuel blends may or can damage your engine or fuel system and this might not be covered by warranty. So if you’re planning to convert your VW or buy one, you might want to do a little research on the history of the car, usage and talk to people who have already tried running their VW on biodiesel. Aside from this, you may also need an affordable car insurance that would cover your VW from any unexpected situations. You can check the free quotations above on this site for your reference as well.
